Steven felt called to service and worked in several service-oriented posts before joining the team at New Pond Village. Most recently, he was executive director at a non-profit that provided care and counseling for homeless veterans, many of them seniors. Steven also worked with the United Service Organization (USO), serving active-duty service members and military families. He was Area Director & Area Operations Manager for South Korea and a Center Director in Kuwait and Iraq.
His favorite part of his job at New Pond Village is sitting outside with the residents in nice weather. “The simple interactions with my residents are such a rewarding experience,” he says. “I love the afternoon banter about the weather, history, or even sometimes politics.”
Interaction with residents and learning about their lives makes his job rewarding. “I have met people who fought in WWII, sailed the oceans for years, fought for the rights of troubled children and so much more. The stories are endless.”
In his time away from New Pond Village, he enjoys hiking with his wife and two dogs, traveling and cooking.
