New Pond Village Undergoing Multi-Million Dollar Renovation

WALPOLE, MA − New Pond Village, a Benchmark senior living community, located on 28-acres in Walpole, Mass., is undergoing a $8 Million dollar renovation. The community was acquired in May 2017 and the renovations are slated to take place in phases with an anticipated completion date of June 2018.

“Renovations at the community are focused on providing a continuum of care.” says William Cook, director of development at Benchmark Senior Living. “In addition to cosmetic updates to the independent living community, significant construction is taking place to create two distinct areas for memory care and assisted living.”

Major changes to the senior living community are making a lasting economic impact on the greater Walpole community. More than 40 local workers are assisting with project, sourcing materials and expertise from local lumber yards, electrical companies and construction stores.

“We are thrilled to be providing significant improvements to our already beautiful community,” said Susan Cweika, executive director of New Pond Village. “We are confident that our residents will enjoy a continuum of care offered onsite along with the upscale, sophisticated look of the changes.”

Aside from the interior transformation, the renovation is making a positive impact on the greater Walpole community as more than 40 local workers support the project and pour a portion of the $8 Million into the local economy. Once completed, New Pound Village will employ several additional associates to service its residents.

Utilizing the latest research in senior living design, and Cook’s experience in LEED certified construction, the community has undergone significant improvements to lighting the efficiency of utilities throughout the community.

Senior living communities are different by design. Additions of a memory care and assisted living community, significant focused was on the details which will benefit the continued health of the residents.

The overall color scheme will be peaceful shades of gray with color pops in the main building. Furniture in the public areas will have a classic, yet contemporary feel with warm wood tones and bold patterns. The walls will feature stone accents throughout.

The private dining room will also be refreshed along with the bistro and billiard room. The current auditorium will be transformed to have more of a theatre feel versus a multipurpose room and the stage will be flipped for better utilization of space. A highly desired pre-function area will grace the back of the theatre, perfect for events and performances. The activity room and kitchen will be updated along with the popular wood shop. There will also be improvements to the salon so that it takes on a more spa-like ambience. The fitness center will incorporate new bathrooms, and a juice bar along with a massage room.  The lobby and library will also get a refresh and will no doubt be popular spots with residents and their visitors, alike.

The Aldridge House Assisted Living and Harbor Memory Care will undergo soft renovations with the addition of contrasting flooring and walls in soothing colors throughout the indoor living corridors. Seven units will also be fully renovated.
