With all the amenities available to New Pond Village’s residents – dining, a salon, fitness center and bank – residents can find everything they need right on campus. But many residents also love a day of shopping and lunch with friends, especially during the holidays, and our community makes it easy with group trips to our area’s best retail destinations.

Having the security of knowing all your needs can be met right here, combined with the freedom of getting out on the town to buy a gift for yourself or a loved one, is what makes life here the ideal retirement experience for our residents.

Exciting excursions.

Retail therapy with friends can be a wonderful way to spend the day and the Walpole area is close to several shopping centers, including Patriots Place in Foxborough and Legacy Place in Dedham. For shopping destinations that are a bit further away, our community offers group trips.

During the summer months, we visit the seaside town of Rockport and explore its charming Main Street of boutiques and galleries.

For bigger bargains and brands the New Pond Village bus brings residents to the Wrentham Outlets, New England’s largest outdoor outlet shopping destination.

Our associates are always listening to our residents’ wants and needs, regularly adding enticing new destinations to our monthly activities calendar.

Securing the staples.

For days when residents can’t get out, the New Pond Village Country Store makes sure to keep the shelves stocked with the most important groceries. Milk, bread and, of course, ice cream!

Resident Carol Fiske, one of the volunteers who helps keep the shop open six days a week, likens it to a “little general store” that serves as one of New Pond Village’s most popular social hubs.

“It’s a community,” agrees Pat Harris, who operates the store on Saturdays. “Some people come by just to chat.”

The Independent Living meal plan at New Pond Village provides residents a light breakfast and their choice of either lunch or dinner in the formal dining room or casual bistro each day. They also enjoy full kitchens in their apartment homes, making the Country Store the perfect place to pick up items to add to a meal at home.

Residents can also have groceries delivered right to their door or join the community’s weekly bus trip to nearby Stop and Shop or Big Y.

Treasure hunting at the Curiosity Shop.

Another hub of community connection is New Pond Village’s Curiosity Shop. Each week, resident Lois Fitzgerald opens the doors to this little nook of gently used goods. Hours vary weekly.

Residents and associates frequent the hidden gem. It’s a win-win for the New Pond Village and the Walpole communities.

“The money that we earn is donated to the Walpole Scholarship Fund and the Walpole Library Fund,” Lois said.
